The blog challenges Atkins diet, which aims to limit carbohydrate intake, eat high-protein-based foods and other nutrients, lower blood sugar levels and promote fat degradation. As an “emperor’s diet” in Korea, I liked the fact that I could eat my favorite meat during this diet period. In fact, I wanted to try the vegan diet once in my life, but I decided to postpone it to the next opportunity as a person who is already underweight and cannot live without meat. Atkins diet limits carbohydrate-rich foods such as rice, bread, and sweet potatoes, as well as foods such as sugar, corn syrup, but protein, seafood, and vitamins are freely available. And the typical menus are, beef and pork, and among pork, it is effective to have loin and tenderloin. Also, it is good to eat water and vegetables together because the Atkins diet can cause water shortages.
Among the diet meals I made, “Sukiyaki” is a traditional Japanese food that contains protein-rich ingredients such as meat, mushrooms and tofu and dip vegetables into eggs. I thought it was a perfect menu for Atkins diet. The recipe is as follows.
Prep time: 15 minutes Cooking time: 20 minutes
- 200 g Thin sliced beef loin
- 60 g tofu
- 15 g Portobello mushrooms
- 20 g cremini mushrooms
- 30 g onion
- 30 g leek
- 3 Tbs Japanese soy sauce
- 1/3 cup of kelp stock
- 1 Tbs cooking wine
- 1 Ts white vinegar
- 1 Egg
- Finch of Red chili pepper powder
- Salt and black pepper to season
- Put kelp in the water and boil until the broth comes out.
- Cook meat and vegetables in a heated pan in order.
- Add sukiyaki sauce and cook well, then gradually add broth to season.
- Sprinkle chili powder and sesame seeds and dip them in eggs to eat.

I usually don’t eat breakfast very well. I also did not eat milk or cheese well, but it was delicious after a long time.
Frankly speaking, Atkins diet wasn’t much different from my usual diet. But not being able to eat enough carbohydrates was a torture for Koreans who could not live without rice. Eating meat-oriented meals brought out a lot of money this week, and the mouth and stomach were always greasy, and the appetite was reduced because of the quickness of the stomach. I thought Atkins diet could be effective if someone aimed at losing weight.
Personally, for my future, eating more nutrients than this diet will help me gain weight and gain a healthy body.
So, while this high-protein diet is good, there seems to be no reason to maintain this diet where carbohydrates and other nutrients are limited because I need a balanced intake of protein as well as carbohydrates and other nutrients.
